In phase space, a stable system will move predictably towards a very simple attractor (which will look like a single point in the phase space if the system settles down, or a simple loop if the system cycles between different configurations repeatedly). Phase space is not (always) like regular space - each location in phase space corresponds to a different configuration of the system. Though we may not be able to predict exactly how a chaotic system will behave moment to moment, knowing the attractor allows us to narrow down the possibilities. The 2012 J&P 10-Ball Cup will feature a handicapping system. If someone or some business comes along and brings pool to the forefront, I will not complain and will welcome it with open arms, of course. While others went back to the pool room to watch some challenge matches, I headed home to sit in my comfy chair in front of the tv in my own abode.

It is worth noting that the laws of physics that determine how the billiard balls move are precise and unambiguous: they allow no room for randomness. The room said on Sunday they would add $200 additional if 12 or more players played in it. But, I did get 5th, the tournament overall ran smoothly (we had 51 players!), and I remained high in the standings on the tour. The she won a game after kicking at an 8-ball. Then I ran out after her dry break again. The game is played with three balls, two white and one red, with one of the white balls having a small red dot, or spot, to distinguish it. Finally, Stevie missed a two ball entirely trying to thin it for a safe, and Shane got out for the win. Someone got into my head and that affected me for a while - but glad it happened - good practice for tournaments. A couple of friends showed up to watch me in the winner's side match and I got extremely nervous! The night before, I meet up with friends for dinner. But what about the guy from Saturday night? I decided to stay in Vinh for the night because 13 hours on a cramped public bus had been enough of a day for me.

In the 13th rack, Orcollo left an opening for Biado at the end of their exchange of safety shots, which was more than enough for Biado to sink the yellow 1-ball. And when there were only three balls left on the table - scattered and all near the pockets - Orcollo conceded, what is billiards signalling Biado’s entry into the semi-finals. Play continues until only the six colours remain on the table. I then had to play my sparring partner Tara. 5-3. I then worry too much about scratching on the 8ball in the next game and miss. However, knowing this win would mean it would be my highest finish yet on the tour (guaranteed 3rd) really screwed with my head all the while I didn't focus on the game in front of me and instead I had wobbly arms because I was so nervous. This tournament I wanted to focus on my pre shot routine again - that seems to be really helping me of late, but I noticed I didn't do that too much this time. I pulled my under shirt down (the one I deliberately wore for that reason) before every shot. Ironically, my opponent is the one that has told me in the past to bear down on combos.

But, I enjoyed running the meeting and then it was down to competing! I then play Tour veteran and great player Lisa Marr for 5th. She handily outplayed me as I still was trying to shake the nerves. I then had to play a good friend of mine who usually walks all over me - has no fear against me and just free strokes against me. Then the next morning, my scotch doubles partner (and a guy who is like a brother to me), overslept and was late to his winner's side match. I complimented her after the match and I hope she took it sincerely. He made it for the one-loss side match and ended up placing 5th. But he was SUPER mad at himself, no one else. I then went to the one-loss side and played Terry Petrosino first. The match went hill-hill and so I never talked to the newbie about his slamming of cues, but I am really glad that that player shared his thoughts with me.
